SNV Netherlands Development Organization uses TimeTell across 33 developing countries!Statement
SNV is a Netherlands-based, international development organization that provides advisory service to nearly 1800 local organizations in over 33 developing countries to support their fight against poverty. SNV is dedicated to a society where all people enjoy the freedom to pursue their own sustainable development.
Problem
SNV were using an online system for their activity management. The existing system was too slow and not very user-friendly. Most important of all, the system required that the user be online in order to gain access. This, in developing countries was not always possible! Advisors needed a solution that would enable them to enter their details in an 'off-line' scenario. Enabling them to complete their data during their working schedule, maintaining the accuracy of their information.
Requirements
SNV advisors work 'in the field' noting which clients they are working with and which assignments they are involved with. SNV were in need of a solution which would allow advisors to access their software when they were working away from base, in a third world country, where access to the internet was also likely to be very difficult, if not impossible. A system was required that could be used in 'the field', then synchronised on return to their main administration centre. In addition, SNV, wished to build a knowledge base of their advisors in order to be able to align these skills with existing and future campaigns and projects.
TimeTell Experience
TimeTell is unique in providing 'off-line' functionalities in this way. Indeed TimeTell has other clients who use the same functionality in their organizations too, and so has experience in providing this type of solution.
Product
Once their requirements had been defined they undertook to research the market. An initial search showed that there were a vast number of potential providers to choose from. It rapidly became apparent that Jan Schouten of SNV was able very quickly to draw a shortlist of just five suppliers, who had the potential to meet his requirements. These suppliers were invited to meet with SNV and give a demonstration of the product. TimeTell stood out as the major contender. TimeTell was chosen as it satisfied SNV's requirements exactly. The SNV and their advisors are successfully using TimeTell in 33 countries.
