Nutreco takes control of their business using TimeTell
Nutreco is an international enterprise in the field of animal- and fish-feeding and is active in several markets of the fish and meat production. The total turnover in 2004 was € 3.8 billion. The company is divided into Aqua and Agriculture, with eight Business Groups within which diverse Business Divisions operate. Worldwide, Nutreco has over 12,000 employees across 22 countries.
Employees at the main Nutreco office had been recording their time spent on particular projects and tasks using a legacy time-registration system. They had been doing this in order to support the cost-calculation to the diverse operating companies. Unfortunately, this did not really work as they had expected and hoped. It was too slow, not very intuitive and some data was not protected enough. That is why they started looking for a new time-registration system. Several providers were selected and invited for a demonstration.
The final decision was to select TimeTell's Time Sheet software.
Mr. Wieggers explains: “TimeTell works quickly, is intuitive, which makes it very user friendly. An important aspect here is the protection of diverse data that has to be integrated into the system”. Mr. Bink, Information Manager at Nutreco, says that TimeTell's neat working method was very important in making the decision.
The modules were chosen because they met exactly Nutreco's needs. Following their due diligence and research they knew what they had and what they needed. Following the demonstration, it was clear that TimeTell was the best solution.
Implented in January 2005, now all the employees use TimeTell and it is working out very well, particularly because of the speed and the lay-out, and because it is a lot more intuitive than the previous system.
Rail Safty & Standard's Board
One of our many client success stories is with the Rail Safety & Standard’s Board. The RSSB is funded in two ways: Member subscriptions, and by the Government. The RSSB has seventy-five members, thirty-six of which are railway companies. These companies fund the corporate activity of the RSSB. The Government funds the RSSB's Research & Development efforts. The R & D team oversees the 500+ projects the RSSB has running at any given time.
Between the Corporate division and the Research & Development division there is a need for inter-company invoicing and payment processing to take place. The primary reason for implementing a time and project management solution was the need to track and report on the time and money spent fulfilling project efforts. By tracking these efforts, the RSSB is able to justify to their Members how their investment in the RSSB is being managed.
When the RSSB was given the request for information (RIF) to find a solution to tracking time and project efforts in order to be able to invoice, and report to the members, the RSSB’s RFI committee unanimously chose TimeTell to provide the software solution for their varying needs. The Head of Finance & Commerce at the RSSB gave a number of factors as to why TimeTell Corporation was awarded the job:

Another important factor was that the TimeTell team specifically addressed the RSSB's major issues, objectives and concerns throughout the process. How is TimeTell used at the RSSB? The RSSB employees log their time via their personal computers; they indicate which tasks they have done for which project or client. TimeTell software has been linked in with the RSSB’s existing accounting system so that budgetary expenditures can be tracked for invoicing. Since staff cost is a significant proportion of the RSSB’s outgoing expenses, and they are required to report to their members how it’s allocated. As part of our client service and support, TimeTell has configured the RSSB reporting system to do an internal analysis of time and costs incurred for specific projects. RSSB employees are now in a position to show exactly which projects they are working on, and the precise costs associated with them.
The employees at the RSSB have stated how easy TimeTell is to use in their daily routine. The RSSB Members have accurate visibility of how the money is being spent, creating more confidence in their investment. Looking to the future, the RSSB envisages being able to provide their members with further analysis of what their funding is being used for, and as such, has engaged TimeTell to fully plan and manage their ability to successfully track and manage projects into the future.
SNV
Another client success story is with SNV Netherlands Development Organization, which uses TimeTell across thirty-three developing countries! SNV is a Netherlands-based, international development organization that provides advisory services to nearly one thousand eight hundred local organizations in over thirty-three developing countries, supporting their fight against poverty. SNV was using an online system for their activity management, but the existing system was slow and not very user-friendly. Most importantly, the system required that the user be online in order to gain access. In developing countries this wasn’t always feasible. SNV needed a solution that would enable them to enter their details in an off-line scenario while maintaining the accuracy of their information.
SNV advisors work in the field noting which clients they are working with and which assignments they are involved with. SNV was in need of a solution which would allow advisors to access their software when they were working away from home base in a third world country where internet access was unpredictable, if not impossible. A system was required that could be used in the field, then synchronised on return to their main administration centre. In addition, SNV wished to build a knowledge database of their advisors in order to be able to align these skills with existing as well as future campaigns and projects.
Five competing software suppliers were invited to meet with SNV and deliver a demonstration of the product. TimeTell stood out as the major contender, and was chosen among our competitors because our software solutions complimented SNV's requirements inspiring confidence in our abilities. As Jan Schouten of SNV explains: “TimeTell works quickly, and is very user-friendly; since January 2004 it has helped us to achieve discipline in time registration, and has made it possible for us to track the information that reflects exactly which contracts, in which areas, as well as with whom our advisors are working. It has enabled us to show our biggest funder, the Government, how we are spending the € 80 million that they invested.
